How much can you take?
This dance theater work will explore how the rule of law can build us together and how it can tear us apart.
Based on a previous creation from 2016 – this project will be expanded to Olympic proportions.
The choreography will be highly athletic, technically demanding and intensive. Dancers must have strong technical ability and be capable of composing their own material using various choreographic devices. Beautifully organized chaos, ever-flowing, supportive, synchronized, satisfying choreography made through dynamic teamwork. Modern, Post-Modern, Contemporary.
The improv game has two basic goals: keep what’s yours / take what’s theirs.
Beyond sharp wits, strong social skills, and the ability to get the audience to root for you; your costume is your only resource. Keep it on – if you can.
Multiple rounds of choreography – Multiple rounds of improv – Back and forth
until the thin veil of society lifts.
There will be a sports commentator/referee to hold the space on the brink and focus the content, the rules and the governance of the space.
This work creates a space that is as delicate as it is brutal. To ensure a foundation of integrity, trust and consent we will begin with an intimacy coordination workshop led by Zarah Bracht on the first day of the audition.
To be as clear as possible about the actions and situations involved in this work, we have outlined the following conditions:
The personal boundaries of performers will always be respected and worked with in this creation. However, readiness to accept the challenge and openly explore the elements mentioned earlier are a prerequisite for participating in this work. If you do not feel open to creating with these elements and actively engaging in regular group communication about consent, please refrain from applying.
With all this knowledge in mind. If you would like to apply please send your CV and any video of yourself you find helpful to info@arkconnorschumacher.com with the subject title ARK AUDITION.
